Asif Mahmud, Nahid Islam and Abu Bakr Majumdar, three coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, have been accused of being taken out of the hospital under treatment.

After Nahid's father Badrul Islam made this complaint to BBC Bangla on Friday afternoon, hospital sources confirmed the truth of the news.

They were under treatment at Gonoshasthaya Hospital in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. A hospital official told BBC Bangla on condition of anonymity that they were "released" and taken away with the identity of an intelligence agency.

He said that around four in the afternoon some people came and introduced themselves to the duty nurse as people from an intelligence agency. Also show your identity card.

"Sisters are coming and saying that they will be released. The sister then said, "I can't release unless the professor who is under him says so," the official said.

Later that professor was contacted.

"With no serious physical complications," the concerned professor allowed the release.

Asked whether the release was forced or not, the hospital official said, "There was some force." Because we didn't release them, they had to pay for their needs."

On Friday afternoon, Nahid's father Badrul Islam told BBC Bangla that three coordinators of the quota movement were taken away from the hospital under the identity of the DB police.

When contacted at that time, Harun-Or Rashid, head of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police, told BBC News Bangla that they do not know anything about this.

BBC News Bangla also spoke to Asif Mahmud's father Billal Hossain.

He said that Asif, Nahid and another person were picked up from Gonoshasthayanagar hospital on Friday afternoon.

"Why did they arrest them again while being treated after taking them?" He also asked questions.
